coffee coverHave you ever wondered how your favourite pick me up drink in the morning or companion for late night sessions is being grown?
According to the National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center (NCRDEC), the most commonly grown coffee variety in the country is Robusta. It comprises 75% of the 2010 production (Bureau of Agricultural Statistics). It is high yielding, more resistant to pests and diseases and also the main ingredient of instant coffee. Further studies of NCRDEC show that the demand for instant and gourmet coffee is high, as coffee continues to become a popular valuable crop in the country.
This course will walk you through the step-by-step procedure on how to establish your very own coffee plantation, starting with determining the distinguishing characteristics of a Robusta variety, establishment and management of coffee nursery, methods of coffee propagation, establishment and management of coffee plantation and management of coffee pests and diseases up to the cost and analysis of coffee.
With your interest, farming experience and love for the product, you can now establish your very own coffee Robusta nursery and plantation and earn from it in one to three years!
JUAN AND COFFEE TALK: ROBUSTA COFFEE PRODUCTION is a three-module course that discusses nursery establishment and management, methods of propagation, and economics of coffee production. This course is a product of extensive years of research and field experiments of the National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center (NCRDEC) at the Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite.
