orangeA medium-sized orange is approximately 2 1/2 inches in diameter and weighs approximately 130 grams. It has 70 mg of vitamin C that wards off free radicals from the body. It also has postive effects on skin health and immune function. It is also vital for bones, teeth, and small blood vessels health.

The human body cannot produce or store vitamin C. Consuming fruits and vegetables rich in it is essential. The recommended daily intake of vitamin C vary depending on gender and certain life stages. Men, from age 19 and throughout adulthood, need 90 mg of vitamin C daily while women over age 19 require 75 mg per day.
