citrus fruitsCitrus fruits like orange, calamansi, pomelo, dalandan, and lemon are rich in vitamin C which protects the heart and boosts the immune system. This vitamin may also help ease inflammatory conditions like asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Pairing plant-based iron with vitamin C, like squeezing lemon or orange juice to a spinach salad, gives your meal a little boost. In this way, the vitamin C helps break the iron down into a form that the body can more easily absorb.
