String beans or sitaw is the most produced legume in the Philippines. The young shoots and the beans are available for harvest throughout the year. It is usually grown in home gardens, paddy field dikes, and on shaded areas as a companion crop. It is well suited to warm climate, can thrive well under full sunlight, and can grow on any type of soil.
