Bacteria can multiply in any food, but are particularly fond of the ones rich in protein like meat, poultry, grains, and dairy products. With the right amount of moisture and temperature, they can multiply from one to several millions in just eight hours. Fever, nausea, and vomiting are few of the food-borne illnesses caused by bacteria. Good hygiene practices, cooking food properly, and removing pests are among the ways to prevent the spread of bacteria on any food.
