According to the National Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF), eating a variety of food daily is key to get the nutrients needed by the body. Consuming fish, lean meat, poultry, egg, dried beans or nuts everyday is important for growth and the repair of body tissues. Daily consumption of milk, milk products, and other calcium-rich food such as small fish and shellfish can help strengthen the bones and teeth.
Aside from eating a balanced diet, limiting the intake of junk food such as salty, fried, fatty, and sugar-rich food is highly recommended to lower the risk from cardiovascular and other diseases.
Along with healthy food choices, being physically active can also help lead to healthy living. (DOST)
