virgin coconut oilVirgin coconut oil (VCO) is high in saturated fats. These fatty acids speed up metabolism providing quick energy to the body and brain. They also help raise HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol in the blood. The HDL helps in lowering the risk of heart disease.

The VCO is also rich in lauric acid. When digested, it forms a substance called monolaurin. Monolaurin helps prevent the spread of harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. (Source: DOST)
