Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is high in saturated fats. These fatty acids speed up metabolism providing quick energy to the body and brain. They also help raise HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol in the blood. The HDL helps in lowering the risk of heart disease.
The VCO is also rich in lauric acid. When digested, it forms a substance called monolaurin. Monolaurin helps prevent the spread of harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. (Source: DOST)
