Primer on Establishing Climate-resilient Village and Module on ClimateWeather-informed Farm and Fishing AdvisoriesCalling all agricultural extension workers (AEWs)! Refresh your knowledge and enhance your skills on facilitating the establishment of climate-resilient villages as well as promoting climate information services to farmer groups in the Philippines.

Check out our latest e-learning offerings developed by the Department of Agriculture’s Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA Program)—the Primer on Establishing Climate-resilient Village and Module on Climate and Weather-informed Farm and Fishing Advisories.

Aiming to enhance the resilience of farmers and fisherfolk to climate-related hazards, the AMIA Program envisions the nationwide establishment of climate-resilient villages. These villages, also known as AMIA villages, are composed of consolidated local farmers in a specific area who implement climate change adaptation actions and mitigation measures. These feature testing grounds for adaptation and mitigation initiatives, promotion of and ways to sustain a climate-resilient village, breeding grounds for institutional linkages, and integrated government support services.
Likewise, the program promotes timely, relevant, and site-specific climate- and weather-informed advisories which are deemed important in helping farmers make better decisions and provide them adaptation measures to quickly respond to typhoons, flood, and drought events, among others.
