Fallow period or rest period is beneficial to the farm land and helps prevent yield loss. During the 30-day rest, insect pests will have no place to get shelter and food from, and most of them will starve to death, thus, breaking the insect pest cycle. Leaving the field idle helps cleanse the land and start anew as it destroys the source of diseases developed during the previous cropping season.
