Best known as an indulgent confection, chocolates are also consumed for its health benefits.

As we age, our blood vessels become less flexible and less able to expand which later affects blood flow and blood circulation. With this, the risk of hypertension increases. Dark chocolates, in particular, contain cocoa flavanols that help mitigate age-related changes in blood vessels and could therefore reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Now, before we over-indulge on dark chocolates, it is still important to remember that moderation is key.
