For me I think the role of day length in sweet potato is...

When there's more sunlight, the sweet potato might grow rapidly produce larger vines with bigger tubers and large leaves. It may affect the production of crops as well.

I also agree that enough day length is required for sweet potatoes to grow properly. Just like most of the plants, day length is a basic requirement for plant growth

I agree sweet potato vines love the sun but will also grow in partial shade and sometimes full shade and because sweet potatoes do not need to be in the dark and dormancy is generally broken by moisture and warmth.

Sunlight is one of the major source of nutrients for each plants. According to our discussion, the crop does best where the light intensity is relatively high. Day length of 11 hours or less promotes flowering while 13.5 hours prevents flowering. In addition day length help sweet potato to develop quickly and at the same time produce more yield that can be a big help to our local farmers.
